The 1950′s have always been a fun era. They had a very unique, fun style for clothes, music, and dancing. Everyone loves the 50′s.

This year experience a 1950′s theme with your dances. A sock hop theme is a great theme leading in to the summer. A sock hop allows all the dancers to get to know the songs and dance styles of the 50′s era.

First, start the dance of by having everyone dress the part. 50′s costumes can easily be found. Poodle skirts are accessible online for affordable prices, and rolled up jeans and leather jackets are always easy 50′s costumes to pull off.

Sock hops work great for school dances or church events. With the many styles involved students would not necessarily need to bring a date to the dance, which can be nice for some students. Groups of friends can have just as much fun as much fun.

If you are going to be attending a sock hop dance, practice some 50′s dance steps ahead of time. Online videos on youtube or google can give you some good starting points. There are popular dance moves of the era that can be easily found.
